After Holiday Organizing Tips

Now that much of the festivities are over, it’s time to think about getting organized for next year’s holiday season. Here’s a list of simple tips that will make your next holiday season even more merry!

– Take time to donate or pass along decorations you did not use this year.

– Toss any broken lights or ornaments.  Read here for tips on decluttering holiday decor.

– Enlist the help of family members to put decorations away (put like items together in bins and remember to label. This will make it easier to identify contents in future years).

 – Update your address book from Holiday cards received this year.

 – If you shop “after Christmas” sales be sure to write down what gifts you bought and who you intend to give them to for next year. If you buy cards, wrapping paper or other holiday supplies on sale, write a note for yourself in the month of November in next year’s calendar to remind yourself of the location.

– Write down what your family really enjoyed about the Holidays and what you would do differently next year…keep this in the month of November in next year’s calendar so you can remember what activities to repeat and plan time for and which to let go.

– With holiday baking behind you and a resolution to clear your
clutter, start with your spick rack/drawer. McCormick Spices came up with a great tip: T.O.S.S., which stands for “Toss Old Spices Seasonally.”  Learn more about organizing and keeping a fresh spice rack here.

– Make time for yourself to relax and re-establish daily routine.
