Get Organized for Less than a Dollar

Cheap Way to Organize Your Home & Kid's Toys

Finding ways to organize your kids’ toys so that they can easily find them and put them away themselves is a clutter controlling time saver any busy parent can appreciate. When you get home from work and are busy with dinner, bath time, homework and everything else, wouldn’t it be nice if your little ones’ toys were not strewn all over the house?

I’ve tried a lot of solutions for toddler clutter. Baskets, fabric drawers and a dozen adorable storage solutions more suited to being decorative than functional. None of it was working for my two year old. Toys were jumbled and scattered all the same by the end of each day.

But spending 90 cents at my local discount store changed the way I organized items for my son.

Step one – Sit down with your kids and all their bins, boxes and bags of toys and purge what you can! A good purge can be therapeutic for you and your toddler, you’ll feel instantly lighter and your child gets a lesson in charity and giving.

Step two – Sort it all out. My son loves toys just like most toddlers but he has special places in his heart for his small cars, trains and blocks.

Step three – Enter the plastic shoebox! For 90 cents at my local discount store, these lidded containers are perfect for small children. They are transparent so a child can easily spot the desired toys, the lids are easy for small hands to remove and the box even when filled is light enough to be carried by a two year old.

I keep my son’s favorites in these simple and inexpensive containers so he can pick and choose what he wants to play with and even pick up and put away all by himself. There’s no better way to stay organized and teach your child self-help skills for only 90 cents a pop!
