Giving and Receiving the Gift of Time

The Gift of Time

What if you could give someone, or yourself, the gift of time? Our time is a valuable thing. It is a resource that we can’t make more of. We’re only given 24 hours each day, and those hours are going to pass no matter what we do. We can, however, learn to manage our choices with how we spend our time. 2020 has taught us the importance of slowing down and considering what is really important to us.

We can’t manage time, but we can manage our choices

What if you could free up more time to spend on the things you value? Time with family and friends. Time for hobbies or volunteer work. Or time to take just for yourself, to renew and recharge. Rather than giving (or receiving) a gift that might become clutter or go un-used, what better time than right now to give yourself (or someone else) the gift of time?

Could you use more time to focus on what really matters most to you? We’re only given 24 hours in a day, but what would you do if you were given an extra hour or two to spend on yourself or give to someone else?

The Gift of Time for Yourself

Some people might take the opportunity to check things off their to-do list. The momentum that creates might be just the extra nudge you needed to complete a project or make significant progress on something you’ve been putting off. Likewise, you might want or enjoy the chance to just downshift and focus on self-care. You could exercise, go for a walk, journal or read a book, meditate or be creative. This is YOUR time. When you’re given the choice, how would you spend it? Maybe your choice is to not decide and just be available and ready to seize an opportunity that presents itself.

Giving the Gift of Time to Someone Else

Is there someone who could use your help that you could do a favor for? Run an errand? Drive to an appointment? Just “be there” to offer support, encouragement or celebrate (even virtually)? Is there an organization or charitable group that holds special meaning that you could donate time toward? Whether it is literally giving someone the gift of time together, or the gift of time for something important to them, it often fills our heart just to know we are making a difference to someone else.

It’s About Time

People who are successful in achieving a healthy work/life harmony make deliberate choices each day about what is important to them and how they are going to spend their time. It’s important to step back and ask yourself what is best for you in that moment, then make the choice to do what energizes you.

Whether it is through virtual one-on-one coaching, our virtual productivity program, “It’s About Time”, or products from our online shop that help you to get and stay better organized in the time you have, let us know how we can help.
